Overview
Curasept is a commercially available topical antiseptic oral rinse developed and manufactured by Curasept S.p.A. Its primary active ingredient is 0.2% chlorhexidine digluconate, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that targets bacterial cell membranes and disrupts biofilm matrices. A key feature of Curasept is its proprietary Anti Discoloration System (ADS), which incorporates ascorbic acid and sodium metabisulfite to minimize tooth staining and taste disturbances, common side effects of standard chlorhexidine products. The formulation also contains PVP-VA copolymer and Sodium DNA to support mucosal protection and regeneration. It is indicated for the treatment and management of periodontitis, gingivitis, dental plaque, peri-implantitis, and for use in post-periodontal surgical care.
