Overview
Curcumin + poly-beta-cyclodextrin is a self-assembling inclusion complex formulation designed to overcome the poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability of curcumin. Curcumin, a natural polyphenol derived from *Curcuma longa*, possesses anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. By complexing curcumin with poly(beta-cyclodextrin), a polymeric form of cyclodextrin, the formulation enhances drug stability and cellular uptake. Research has primarily focused on its potential in treating prostate cancer and colorectal cancer, where it has demonstrated improved therapeutic efficacy in cell lines and safety in early-stage human pilot studies.
