Custirsen + paclitaxel + carboplatin is an investigational combination therapy studied primarily in advanced or metastatic cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Custirsen is an antisense oligonucleotide that inhibits the production of clusterin, a stress-associated chaperone protein that protects cancer cells from apoptosis and contributes to treatment resistance. By reducing clusterin levels, custirsen aims to sensitize tumor cells to chemotherapy. Paclitaxel and carboplatin are established chemotherapeutic agents; paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division, while carboplatin induces DNA crosslinking leading to apoptosis.
