CV0701 + CV0601 + CV0801

CV0701 + CV0601 + CV0801 is a multivalent mRNA-based seasonal influenza vaccine candidate developed by CureVac in collaboration with GSK. The combination consists of three distinct mRNA components, each encoding the hemagglutinin (HA) protein of a specific influenza strain: CV0601 targets Influenza A (H1N1), CV0701 targets Influenza A (H3N2), and CV0801 targets Influenza B. The vaccine utilizes CureVac's proprietary second-generation mRNA backbone, which is optimized for enhanced protein expression and immunogenicity. The mRNA transcripts are encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to facilitate intracellular delivery and protect the genetic material from degradation. The program entered Phase 1/2 clinical trials to evaluate safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity compared to standard-of-care seasonal flu vaccines, with the goal of providing broader and more durable protection than traditional egg-based or cell-based vaccines.
