Overview

CV301 is a poxviral-based cancer vaccine that targets the tumor-associated antigens carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and mucin 1 (MUC1), which are overexpressed in multiple solid tumors. It uses a prime/boost dosing schedule with an initial priming dose of modified vaccinia Ankara-BN-CV301 (MVA) followed by boosting doses of fowlpox-CV301 (FPV). The combination with nivolumab—an anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody checkpoint inhibitor—aims to enhance T cell-mediated immune responses against cancer cells by combining vaccine-induced tumor-specific immunity with blockade of the PD-1 inhibitory pathway[5][6][7]. This combination has been evaluated in clinical trials for advanced non-small cell lung cancer and metastatic colorectal cancer.
