Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CVS Health Lubricant Eye Drop (PG 0.6%) is an over-the-counter (OTC) artificial tear and lubricant eye drop containing propylene glycol at a concentration of 0.6% as its active ingredient. It is a small-molecule, non-biological ophthalmic solution designed to provide temporary relief from dryness, burning, and irritation associated with dry eye disease (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). Propylene glycol acts as a humectant and lubricant on the ocular surface, helping to stabilize and supplement the aqueous layer of the tear film. The product is marketed under the CVS Health brand (CVS Pharmacy) as a store-brand equivalent to Systane Complete. It has been evaluated as a comparator in clinical trials, such as a Phase 4 study sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley, investigating the effects of artificial tears on tear lipid films and tear film dynamics.
