Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACIFOL B12 is an oral fixed-dose combination of folic acid (vitamin B9) and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) developed and marketed by Dominguez Laboratory. It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of folic acid and vitamin B12 deficiencies, particularly as a prenatal supplement to prevent neural tube defects in developing fetuses, and for the treatment of megaloblastic anemia. Folic acid is converted to tetrahydrofolate, which is essential for DNA synthesis, cell division, and red blood cell maturation. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 that acts as a coenzyme in methionine synthesis and myelin maintenance. The combination is approved and marketed in Argentina and other regions.
