Overview

This is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing three active ingredients—cyclopentolate, tropicamide, and phenylephrine—used primarily for rapid and effective pupillary dilation (mydriasis) during eye examinations or procedures. Cyclopentolate and tropicamide are antimuscarinic agents that block muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the eye, leading to relaxation of the sphincter muscle of the iris (causing mydriasis) and paralysis of accommodation (cycloplegia). Phenylephrine is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that stimulates contraction of the dilator muscle of the iris, further enhancing pupil dilation. The combination provides both strong mydriatic effect and moderate cycloplegic action. It is typically used in clinical settings for diagnostic purposes or preoperative preparation[1][2][6][7].
