Overview

This is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen composed of seven drugs: cyclophosphamide, cytarabine, dexamethasone, etoposide, ifosfamide, methotrexate, and vincristine. Each component has a distinct mechanism of action targeting rapidly dividing cancer cells through various pathways: - Cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide are alkylating agents that cross-link DNA strands to inhibit cell division. - Cytarabine and methotrexate are antimetabolites that interfere with DNA synthesis. - Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and lympholytic effects. - Etoposide inhibits topoisomerase II leading to DNA strand breaks. - Vincristine disrupts microtubule formation during mitosis. Such combinations are used in the treatment of aggressive hematologic malignancies (e.g., acute leukemias or lymphomas), leveraging synergistic effects for improved efficacy. This specific combination does not correspond to a widely recognized named regimen but includes drugs commonly found in regimens like Hyper-CVAD (which uses similar agents)[1][3][8].
