Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four agents: - **Cyclophosphamide** (an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, leading to cell death) - **Dexrazoxane** (a cardioprotective agent that acts as an iron chelator and reduces the risk of anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity) - **Doxorubicin** (an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, causing DNA damage and apoptosis) - **Fluorouracil** (a pyrimidine analog antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis) This specific four-drug combination is not a standard named regimen in major oncology protocols. However, regimens containing cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and fluorouracil (commonly known as FAC) are widely used for the treatment of breast cancer and other solid tumors[1][2][3]. Dexrazoxane is often added to such regimens to mitigate the cardiotoxic effects of doxorubicin. The primary indication for this type of multi-agent chemotherapy is adjuvant or advanced treatment of breast cancer; it may also be considered in other cancers where these agents are active.
