This drug is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and ftorafur. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication and RNA transcription by cross-linking DNA strands. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA, inhibits topoisomerase II, and generates free radicals leading to cytotoxicity. Ftorafur (also known as tegafur) is a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase and disrupts DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. This combination has been studied for the treatment of advanced or recurrent breast cancer as well as other solid tumors[6]. The regimen aims to maximize antitumor efficacy by combining agents with different mechanisms of action.
