This regimen is a combination chemotherapy protocol consisting of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and ixabepilone. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, leading to cell death. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, preventing DNA replication and repair. Ixabepilone is a microtubule stabilizer (an epothilone B analog) that binds to β-tubulin subunits in microtubules, promoting their stabilization and inhibiting mitosis. This combination has been studied primarily as neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy for early-stage or triple-negative breast cancer, especially in patients with resistance to taxanes or anthracyclines[1][2][3]. The regimen aims to exploit the complementary mechanisms of action of each drug for enhanced antitumor efficacy.
