Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of the standard AC-T chemotherapy regimen (doxorubicin/Adriamycin and cyclophosphamide followed by paclitaxel) with the addition of metformin. The regimen typically includes doxorubicin 60 mg/m² and cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m² administered every 21 days for 4 cycles, followed by weekly paclitaxel 80 mg/m² for 12 cycles, with concurrent metformin 850 mg twice daily throughout the treatment period. This combination has been studied primarily in breast cancer treatment, where metformin appears to enhance the efficacy of standard chemotherapy while potentially reducing certain chemotherapy-induced toxicities.
