cyclophosphamide + doxorubicin + mitomycin C is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three antineoplastic agents: cyclophosphamide, a DNA alkylating agent; doxorubicin (adriamycin), an anthracycline topoisomerase II inhibitor; and mitomycin C, a DNA cross-linking antibiotic. This regimen has been studied as treatment for advanced cancers such as ovarian carcinoma. Each drug disrupts cancer cell growth via distinct molecular mechanisms: cyclophosphamide adds alkyl groups to DNA causing strand breaks and apoptosis; doxorubicin intercalates into DNA, inhibits topoisomerase II, and generates free radicals; mitomycin C is reduced intracellularly to form alkylating species that cross-link DNA, blocking replication and transcription. The combination improves cytotoxicity and is intended for use in various solid tumors, primarily advanced ovarian cancer[3]. Toxicity is generally hematologic (myelosuppression) and gastrointestinal, but the regimen is considered active with manageable adverse effects in relevant populations[3].
