Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen that includes three chemotherapeutic agents (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and paclitaxel) plus an immunotherapy agent (pembrolizumab). The chemotherapy components work through different mechanisms: doxorubicin damages DNA at any point in the cell cycle, cyclophosphamide damages DNA during the resting phase of the cell cycle, and paclitaxel works by damaging the structure or "skeleton" that supports cancer cells. Pembrolizumab is a PD-1 inhibitor that helps the immune system detect and fight cancer cells. This combination likely builds upon the established AC-T regimen (doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, followed by paclitaxel) with the addition of immunotherapy.
