This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four drugs: cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, etoposide, and prednisolone. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication; epirubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II; etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor causing DNA strand breaks; and prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. This regimen has been studied primarily in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and certain lymphomas, showing high response rates but also notable toxicities such as myelosuppression, alopecia, nausea, and vomiting[1][3]. The combination may be considered as an alternative to standard regimens in SCLC or used in elderly patients with lymphoma.
