Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cyclophosphamide + methotrexate is a chemotherapy combination used in cancer treatment. This low-dose combination therapy works through multiple mechanisms, with cyclophosphamide stopping cancer cells from reproducing and methotrexate inhibiting cells from making and repairing DNA. The combination is often administered in a metronomic (continuous low-dose) fashion, which targets both endothelial cells and mechanisms of angiogenesis. This approach is particularly useful for treating drug-resistant cancers. The combination has shown efficacy in metastatic breast cancer and has been studied with additional agents like celecoxib for enhanced anti-angiogenic effects.
