Overview

Cyclophosphamide + paclitaxel is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two antineoplastic agents: cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent that cross-links DNA and inhibits cancer cell replication, and paclitaxel, a taxane that stabilizes microtubules and prevents cell division. This combination is used primarily in the treatment of breast cancer, including early-stage or advanced/metastatic breast cancer. It is sometimes used as part of a larger multi-drug regimen (such as AC-T, which also includes doxorubicin), but cyclophosphamide + paclitaxel alone is also utilized in research and clinical practice for breast cancer and potentially other solid tumors. The drugs act through complementary mechanisms: cyclophosphamide damages DNA during the resting phase of the cell cycle, while paclitaxel disrupts cell division by inhibiting the breakdown of microtubules required for mitosis[3].
