Overview

Cyclophosphamide + pirarubicin is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two cytotoxic agents. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell death. Pirarubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic structurally related to doxorubicin; it intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, resulting in inhibition of DNA synthesis and function. This combination has been investigated for use in various cancers, including breast cancer, salivary gland carcinoma, neuroblastoma, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The regimen aims to leverage the complementary mechanisms of action for enhanced antitumor activity while attempting to manage toxicity profiles[1][2][5].
