Overview

Cyclophosphamide followed by taxane refers to a chemotherapy regimen commonly used in the treatment of breast cancer. The most typical formulation is the combination of cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent) with a taxane such as docetaxel (Taxotere) or paclitaxel (Taxol). These drugs are administered sequentially or concurrently to destroy rapidly dividing cancer cells. Cyclophosphamide works by cross-linking DNA strands, thereby inhibiting cell division and leading to cell death. Taxanes stabilize microtubules and prevent their disassembly, which disrupts mitosis in cancer cells. This combination is often used as adjuvant therapy for early-stage HER2-negative breast cancer but may also be applied in other settings depending on patient characteristics[1][2][4].
