This is a combination immunosuppressive regimen consisting of cyclosporin, mycophenolate mofetil, and antilymphocyte serum. Cyclosporin is a cyclic peptide derived from soil fungi that inhibits T cell function by blocking calcineurin, thereby suppressing the immune response[5]. Mycophenolate mofetil is an antimetabolite immunosuppressant that inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, leading to suppression of lymphocyte proliferation. Antilymphocyte serum (ALS), also known as anti-lymphocyte globulin or antithymocyte globulin depending on the preparation, consists of polyclonal antibodies (usually from horse or rabbit) directed against human lymphocytes; it acts by binding to and depleting circulating lymphocytes through complement-mediated lysis and opsonization for phagocytosis[1][4][5]. This combination is primarily used in organ transplantation to prevent rejection by providing potent multi-modal immunosuppression.
