Overview
Cyclosporin A + diquafosol tetrasodium is a topical ophthalmic combination therapy used for the treatment of dry eye disease. Cyclosporin A is an immunosuppressant that increases tear production by inhibiting T-cell activation and reducing ocular surface inflammation. Diquafosol tetrasodium is a purinergic P2Y2 receptor agonist that stimulates secretion of water and mucins from conjunctival epithelial cells, enhancing tear film stability. The combination has been shown to significantly improve both objective signs (such as tear break-up time and corneal/conjunctival staining) and subjective symptoms of dry eye disease, with evidence suggesting an additive benefit over monotherapy in improving tear film stability[1][2][5].
