The drug combination of **cyclosporine** and **lifitegrast** is being evaluated for the management of post-operative ocular surface symptoms, specifically following photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Cyclosporine is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant that reduces T-cell mediated inflammation and cytokine production (such as IL-2). Lifitegrast is a small molecule antagonist of lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), which blocks the interaction between LFA-1 and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), thereby inhibiting T-cell activation and migration to the ocular surface. In a clinical trial sponsored by Mohsen Pourazizi, these topical ophthalmic agents are administered preoperatively to patients with myopia to assess their efficacy in reducing post-surgical eye pain, redness, and conjunctival inflammation.
