Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cyd dengue virus serotype 2 live (attenuated) antigen is a component of the tetravalent, chimeric yellow fever–dengue, live-attenuated vaccine known as CYD-TDV or Dengvaxia. This biologic is engineered using a yellow fever virus backbone in which the preM and E genes are replaced by those from dengue virus serotype 2. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies against DENV-2 and other included serotypes, thereby providing protection against subsequent infection. The full tetravalent formulation targets all four major dengue virus serotypes and is indicated for prevention of dengue disease in individuals with prior exposure to the virus[3][4][6]. Sanofi Pasteur developed this vaccine; it has been approved in multiple countries for use in specific age groups[3][8].
