Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Camalerg is a branded generic combination medication developed and marketed by Chemross Lifesciences, typically formulated as an oral syrup. It contains cyproheptadine hydrochloride, a first-generation antihistamine and serotonin antagonist, and tricholine citrate, a lipotropic agent. Cyproheptadine functions by antagonizing histamine H1 receptors and serotonin receptors, particularly in the hypothalamus, which results in increased appetite and relief from allergic symptoms. Tricholine citrate acts as a precursor to choline, aiding in the mobilization of liver fat and supporting hepatic function. Camalerg is primarily indicated for the treatment of appetite loss, weight loss, and allergic conditions such as rhinitis, urticaria, and pruritus.
