Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Krosyp is an oral fixed-dose combination syrup containing cyproheptadine, a first-generation antihistamine and serotonin antagonist, and tricholine citrate, a lipotropic and bile acid-binding agent. Developed by Croise Pharma, it is primarily used as an appetite stimulant to treat loss of appetite, undernutrition, and weight loss, particularly in children and patients with chronic illnesses. Cyproheptadine acts on the hypothalamus by blocking serotonin (5-HT2) receptors to reduce satiety signals and stimulate hunger, while also blocking histamine H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms. Tricholine citrate supports liver function and fat metabolism by promoting phospholipid synthesis, enhancing bile secretion, and mobilizing hepatic cholesterol, thereby preventing fat accumulation in the liver.
