Overview
d-camphor + hawthorn berries liquid extract is a herbal combination pharmaceutical product developed by Robugen GmbH and marketed under the brand name Korodin. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of orthostatic hypotension and hypotonic circulatory regulation disorders. The formulation consists of 2.5% D-camphor, sourced from Chinese Cinnamomum camphora, and 97.3% liquid extract of fresh hawthorn berries (Crataegus spp.). The drug is administered as oral drops and works by increasing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The rapid onset of the pressor effect is primarily attributed to the D-camphor component, which is thought to act via sensory stimulation and vasomotor activation. Clinical studies, including meta-analyses of randomized trials, have confirmed its efficacy in stabilizing blood pressure and potentially improving cognitive performance in elderly patients with low blood pressure.
