D-FP21-PP + pGRO-α is an experimental combination nanomedicine formulation under investigation for targeted gene therapy, specifically in ovarian cancer. D-FP21-PP is a dendritic macromolecular nanocarrier conjugated with a 21-amino acid peptide, designed to specifically target follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR)-expressing tumor cells. pGRO-α is a plasmid encoding a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting the growth-regulated oncogene alpha (Gro-α, also known as CXCL1). The D-FP21-PP nanoparticle functions as a delivery system to transport the pGRO-α plasmid into cancer cells. Upon delivery, the shRNA is expressed, leading to silencing of Gro-α, which is implicated in tumor growth and metastasis. This targeted delivery approach is intended to maximize antitumor efficacy while minimizing off-target effects and overcoming traditional RNAi delivery challenges[4].
