Overview

dac-MSCs + Fitostimoline is an investigational combination therapy being developed by the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga for the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers. The therapy consists of acellular derivatives from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) that have been pre-treated with the epigenetic modulator decitabine (dac-MSCs), combined with Fitostimoline (an extract of *Triticum vulgare*). Decitabine treatment is intended to enhance the regenerative potential of the MSC secretome. The combination aims to promote wound healing through multiple biological pathways, including enhanced re-epithelialization, stimulation of angiogenesis, and overall tissue regeneration. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to compare the efficacy of acellular derivatives against whole cell-based therapies and standard care.
