Dactylis glomerata pollen allergen extract, glutaraldehyde-modified, is a therapeutic allergoid vaccine developed by Inmunotek for allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT). It is produced by chemically treating the pollen extract of *Dactylis glomerata* (Cocksfoot or Orchard grass) with glutaraldehyde, which induces polymerization of the allergen proteins. This modification significantly reduces the allergen's IgE-binding capacity, thereby improving the safety profile by minimizing the risk of systemic allergic reactions during administration. Despite the reduced allergenicity, the allergoid retains its immunogenicity, effectively stimulating T-cells to shift the immune response from a Th2-dominated (allergic) profile to a Th1 and regulatory T-cell (Treg) profile. This leads to the production of blocking antibodies, such as IgG4, and the induction of long-term immune tolerance. It is primarily indicated for patients with allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and controlled allergic asthma who demonstrate IgE-mediated sensitivity to grass pollens.
