Overview

Dalcetrapib (JTT-705) is a cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor developed to increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and potentially reduce the progression of atherosclerosis. It works by inhibiting CETP activity, which leads to increased HDL cholesterol and decreased LDL cholesterol. Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers total cholesterol and triglycerides by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. The combination of dalcetrapib with atorvastatin has been studied in clinical trials for their additive effects on lipid profiles in patients with hyperlipidemia or at risk for cardiovascular disease[3][6]. Dalcetrapib was originally developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma and later co-developed with Roche.
