Danirixin + omeprazole refers to the co-administration of danirixin, a small molecule, high-affinity, selective and reversible antagonist of the CXC chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2), and omeprazole, an oral proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid production. Danirixin is being developed primarily for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by inhibiting neutrophil migration and activation, thus reducing inflammation. Omeprazole serves as a gastric acid-reducing agent, which may be used concomitantly in patients also taking danirixin, but its use significantly reduces the bioavailability and increases the variability of danirixin exposure. This drug-drug interaction may limit the effectiveness of danirixin in populations requiring acid suppression therapy[1][2].
