Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Danshen + chuanxiongqin** is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combination of extracts from *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (danshen, red sage root) and *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (chuanxiong), commonly formulated as an injection (Danshen Chuanxiongqin Injection, DSCXQ) for treating cerebral ischemic stroke, coronary heart disease, and related conditions. Danshen acts as a blood invigorator with cooling, bitter properties that promote blood circulation, clear heat, resolve blood stagnation, and protect the heart and liver meridians, while exhibiting vasodilatory, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective effects via tanshinones and salvianolic acids. Chuanxiong complements by enhancing blood flow and relieving pain from stagnation; together, they reduce cerebral infarct size, ameliorate neurological deficits, inhibit neuroinflammation via the SphK1-S1P axis and TLR4-MyD88-NF-κB pathway, suppress neuronal apoptosis, and modulate metabolic pathways including sphingolipid, glycerophospholipid, and amino acid metabolism in ischemia-reperfusion models.[2][3][5][6]
