dapagliflozin + simvastatin

Dapagliflozin + simvastatin is a combination of two small molecule drugs: dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor used for type 2 diabetes mellitus, and simvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower cholesterol. Dapagliflozin reduces blood glucose by increasing urinary glucose excretion; simvastatin decreases cholesterol synthesis in the liver by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase. Co-administration has been clinically studied primarily for safety and pharmacokinetics in populations with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk. No clinically meaningful pharmacokinetic interaction between these two drugs was observed, and the combination is well tolerated in healthy volunteers.
