Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DAP-FLU ME is an investigational topical combination micro-emulsion (o/w type) formulation developed by researchers at Mansoura University for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It contains 5% dapsone, 2.5% flutamide, and 5% tea tree oil. Dapsone provides antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, while flutamide acts as a non-steroidal anti-androgen to target sebaceous gland overactivity. Tea tree oil serves as both an antibacterial agent and a component of the micro-emulsion base. This topical approach aims to deliver therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the systemic side effects associated with oral administration of dapsone or flutamide.
