dapsone + methylprednisolone

This is a combination therapy of dapsone, a sulfone antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agent, and methylprednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Dapsone acts primarily by inhibiting dihydropteroate synthase to block folic acid synthesis in susceptible organisms and also exerts anti-inflammatory effects. Methylprednisolone suppresses inflammation and immune responses by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, modulating gene expression to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines and mediators. The combination is used as an adjuvant or steroid-sparing regimen in autoimmune blistering diseases such as bullous pemphigoid, where it can help achieve disease control while reducing cumulative corticosteroid exposure[1][2][4][9]. Dapsone may allow for faster tapering of steroids and decrease steroid-related adverse events.
