A combination immunization regimen consisting of three separate vaccines: DAPTACEL (Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed), IPOL (Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine), and ActHIB (Haemophilus b Conjugate Vaccine). Developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur, this regimen provides active immunization against five pediatric diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. DAPTACEL is a five-component acellular pertussis vaccine combined with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids. IPOL is a trivalent inactivated poliovirus vaccine containing types 1, 2, and 3. ActHIB is a conjugate vaccine consisting of the Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide (PRP) covalently bound to tetanus toxoid. In clinical development, this separate-injection schedule served as the reference standard to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the pentavalent combination vaccine, Pentacel.
