Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed-therapy combination of two long-acting hematopoietic growth factors used together to support chemotherapy patients: (1) darbepoetin alfa, a hyper-glycosylated recombinant erythropoietin analog that stimulates erythropoiesis via the erythropoietin receptor to treat or prevent chemotherapy-induced anemia; and (2) pegfilgrastim, a PEGylated recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor that activates the G-CSF receptor to promote neutrophil production and reduce febrile neutropenia. Clinical studies have evaluated concurrent darbepoetin alfa and pegfilgrastim dosing per chemotherapy cycle to minimize red blood cell transfusions and neutropenic complications in solid tumors such as breast cancer and sarcoma.[6][2][3][5][1]
