This is a **combination drug** of **darexaban**, a small molecule oral direct factor Xa inhibitor anticoagulant, and **acetylsalicylic acid** (aspirin), an antiplatelet agent. Darexaban specifically and reversibly inhibits factor Xa, a key enzyme in the coagulation cascade, reducing thrombin generation and thrombus development[2][3][4]. Aspirin irreversibly inactivates cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) in platelets, thereby reducing thromboxane A2 formation and inhibiting platelet aggregation. The combination has been investigated in clinical trials for secondary prevention of ischemic events in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) on top of standard dual antiplatelet therapy[1][3]. The combination increases antithrombotic efficacy but is associated with a dose-dependent increase in bleeding risk without clear evidence of improved ischemic outcomes compared to antiplatelet therapy alone in phase II trials[1][3].
