Overview
Dasatinib + peginterferon alfa-2b is an investigational combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of newly diagnosed chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML-CP). The regimen combines dasatinib, a potent second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that targets the BCR-ABL1 oncoprotein, with peginterferon alfa-2b, a pegylated form of interferon-alpha with immunomodulatory and antiproliferative properties. This combination aims to eradicate leukemic stem cells and restore anti-CML immunity, potentially leading to deeper molecular responses and higher rates of treatment-free remission (TFR) compared to TKI monotherapy. It has been primarily studied in the NordCML007 Phase 2 trial sponsored by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on behalf of the Nordic CML Study Group.
