Daunorubicin + doxorubicin is a combination of two anthracycline antibiotics used as antineoplastic agents in cancer chemotherapy. Both drugs act primarily by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, leading to the disruption of DNA replication and transcription, ultimately resulting in cell death. They also generate free radicals that contribute to cytotoxicity. Daunorubicin is mainly used for hematologic malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), while doxorubicin has a broader spectrum including solid tumors like breast, lung, ovarian, liver, thyroid carcinomas, leukemias, and lymphomas[1][2][4][7]. The combination may be considered in certain intensive chemotherapy regimens for refractory or relapsed cancers where multi-agent anthracycline therapy is indicated.
