Overview

Daunorubicin + idarubicin + mitoxantrone is a combination chemotherapy regimen comprising three cytotoxic agents: daunorubicin and idarubicin (both anthracyclines) and mitoxantrone (an anthracenedione). This combination is utilized as an investigational salvage therapy arm within a prospective, multicenter, platform-type clinical study for patients with refractory or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Each component acts as a small molecule topoisomerase II inhibitor and DNA intercalator, disrupting DNA replication and transcription to induce apoptosis in rapidly dividing malignant cells. The regimen is being evaluated for its efficacy, safety, and impact on overall survival by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital in China.
