Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DC-CIK + S-1 is a chemo-immunotherapy combination regimen evaluated by Capital Medical University for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer. S-1 is an oral fluoropyrimidine formulation consisting of tegafur (a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil), gimeracil (a dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase inhibitor that increases 5-FU plasma levels), and oteracil potassium (which reduces 5-FU-induced gastrointestinal toxicity). DC-CIK (Dendritic Cell-Cytokine Induced Killer) therapy is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy where patient-derived immune cells are activated and expanded ex vivo before re-infusion. The combination aims to leverage the direct cytotoxic effects of S-1 with the enhanced immune surveillance and non-MHC-restricted tumor-killing capacity of DC-CIK cells. Clinical studies conducted at the Capital Medical University Cancer Center have demonstrated that this combination improves disease control rates and survival outcomes in patients with advanced gastric cancer compared to S-1 monotherapy.
