Overview

DC Ova + cyclophosphamide is a combination therapy consisting of dendritic cell-based ovarian cancer vaccine (DC Ova) and the alkylating agent cyclophosphamide. Cyclophosphamide is a well-established chemotherapeutic and immunosuppressive drug that works by cross-linking DNA, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and cell death, particularly in rapidly dividing cells. In addition to its cytotoxic effects, low-dose cyclophosphamide has immunomodulatory properties; it can selectively deplete regulatory T cells (Tregs), thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses[1][4]. Dendritic cell vaccines are designed to stimulate the patient’s immune system by presenting tumor antigens and activating cytotoxic T lymphocytes against cancer cells. The combination aims to leverage the immunostimulatory effect of dendritic cell vaccination while using low-dose cyclophosphamide to reduce immune suppression from Tregs, potentially improving therapeutic efficacy in ovarian cancer.
