Decitabine + oxaliplatin is an investigational combination therapy consisting of two chemotherapeutic agents, decitabine and oxaliplatin. Decitabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analogue that acts as a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, leading to DNA hypomethylation and reactivation of silenced genes, which can induce cell differentiation or apoptosis in malignant cells. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, inhibiting DNA replication and transcription, ultimately resulting in cell death. The combination has been studied for its potential synergistic effects in cancer treatment; preclinical studies have shown that decitabine can enhance the cytotoxicity of oxaliplatin by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and modulating gene expression related to oxidative stress. This combination has been evaluated in clinical trials for advanced cancers such as renal cell carcinoma and colorectal cancer[2][4][10].
