A combination of **delavirdine**, **nelfinavir**, and **stavudine** is an antiretroviral regimen for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Delavirdine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that blocks HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, thereby preventing viral RNA from being converted to DNA. Nelfinavir is a protease inhibitor that prevents cleavage of viral polyproteins, resulting in the production of immature, non-infectious viral particles. Stavudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that is phosphorylated to its active form in cells and inhibits reverse transcription by chain termination. This regimen is used for patients with HIV infection, typically as part of a highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) combination, but delavirdine is rarely used in current therapy due to superior alternatives. These three drugs act synergistically to suppress HIV replication and improve immunological status in patients.
