This autologous dendritic cell vaccine is an investigational immunotherapy developed by Genzyme (a Sanofi company) for the treatment of advanced melanoma. The therapy involves harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells and transducing them with adenoviral vectors encoding two key melanoma-associated antigens: MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells 1) and gp100. Once administered, these modified dendritic cells present the antigens to the patient's immune system, aiming to induce a robust, tumor-specific T-cell response against melanoma cells. It was primarily evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials, sometimes in combination with interleukin-2 (aldesleukin) to enhance immune stimulation.
