Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dengue 1,2,3,4 (attenuated) + VLA1555 is a **combination vaccine candidate** that comprises two distinct live attenuated viral vaccines: - **Dengue 1,2,3,4 (attenuated):** A tetravalent live attenuated vaccine targeting all four dengue virus serotypes, typically developed to provide immunity against dengue fever. - **VLA1555:** A live attenuated chikungunya vaccine developed by Valneva and Instituto Butantan. VLA1555 is derived from an attenuated strain of chikungunya virus and designed to induce neutralizing antibodies that provide protection against chikungunya infection. It is intended for the prevention of chikungunya fever, with phase 3 clinical trials and regulatory reviews underway in several countries. If approved, VLA1555 will be locally manufactured by Instituto Butantan and provided at an affordable price, especially in Latin American markets[3]. VLA1555 is a follow-up development to Valneva’s previously approved VLA1553/IXCHIQ, a single-dose live attenuated chikungunya vaccine[1][3]. The combination is intended to provide simultaneous protection against both dengue and chikungunya viruses, which co-circulate in many endemic regions. Mechanistically, each component confers immunity by inducing a robust, long-lasting neutralizing antibody response against its target virus.
