Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dengue tetravalent vaccine, live is a live attenuated viral vaccine designed to prevent dengue disease caused by all four serotypes of the dengue virus (1, 2, 3, and 4). It works by exposing the immune system to weakened forms of these viruses so that it can mount an effective immune response upon future exposure. The primary indication is for the prevention of symptomatic and severe dengue in individuals with prior laboratory-confirmed infection living in endemic areas. There are two main products on the market: Dengvaxia (developed by Sanofi) and Qdenga (developed by Takeda). Both are approved in various regions for use in children and adolescents within specific age ranges who have had previous exposure to the virus[1][2][3][5][8].
