Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The dengue vaccine developed by Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) is a recombinant vector vaccine currently in Phase I clinical development for the prevention of dengue fever. Developed in collaboration with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), which provided the necessary virus strains, the vaccine is designed to elicit a protective immune response against the dengue virus. It is administered via the subcutaneous route. Early clinical data from approximately 90 participants aged 18-50 showed no adverse effects. IIL, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, anticipates a commercial launch by 2026-2027, following the completion of Phase II trials and regulatory approvals.
